A good landscape lighting design starts with the walk from the drive to the door. Path lights come first, spaced so the whole route reads clearly after dark. Then the trees: an uplight at the base of an oak or a crape myrtle turns the canopy into the brightest thing in the yard.
Hardscape lighting finishes the picture. Small lights tucked under wall caps and step treads show off the stone and mark every edge you could trip on. Low-voltage lighting keeps all of it simple to change. A fixture can be re-aimed or moved to a new bed in an afternoon.
